Phil has been drawing cartoons for his entire life (I distinctly remember a cartoon I drew in third grade where a dog fell over--trust me, it was really funny) More recently Phil has been working on cartoons that are more topical.
Since the Spring of 1998 Phil has provided the Grosse Pointe News, a weekly newspaper serving 6 Metro Detroit suburbs, with cartoons for their editorial page. He also spent 4 years drawing cartoons for the student newspaper of Kenyon College, the Kenyon Collegian. In May of 2003 Phil graduated cum laude from Kenyon College with a bachelors degree. He majored in both Political Science and Studio Art. Phil's study of politics at Kenyon College, has given him a strong theoretical background with which to analyze politics. His studies in Studio Art encouraged him to consider the most appealing way in which to display the political scenarios that Phil thinks he understands.
Phil is also a pathetically loyal Detroit Tigers fan and still gets upset when they lose (read: glutton for emotional punishment). Currently, Phil lives in St. Clair Shores, MI with his very understanding girlfriend Tricia and a (#%*&ing) cat named Sparky. He is trying desperately to find somebody who would be willing to pay him something resembling a living wage for his cartoons.
